1962 BOBBI TORANGO SULLIVAN I’m looking forward to spring and riding my Arabian, Tapdog. We have a lot of theater coming up, the national tours of Billy Elliot and Les Miz are next. Then Music Circus opens for the summer. I’m still working full time at VSP. I’ll retire after we get our new house.
1966 SANDRA BRENT GREEN I went to St. Helen’s Hall in fifth and sixth grades. I was resident at the “Cottage.” I remember a girl named Ruthie Swan who was in one of the upper class residences. There was another younger girl named Susan, but I can’t remember her last name. We were there together in 1958 and ’59. Mrs. Keenan was our housemother.
1967 ZARA CAROLYN MCKEE RAAB A series of poems called “The Miller’s Wife” by the poet Zara Raab (aka moi-meme Carrie McKee) was selected as a finalist for the Dana Award. The manuscript in which they appear will be published later this year, along with a new collection, Fracas & Asylum, in early 2014.
REBECCA REYNOLDS I am still enjoying teaching in the Upper School (grades 5-8) at Peninsula School. The staff around me is constantly becoming younger, which is fun but makes me feel that perhaps the time to step aside is drawing near. My grandchildren (ages 6 and 4) both attend the school now, giving me frequent opportunities to visit with them. How lucky is that! I am still stunned by what a great, and interesting, time I had with my classmates at our last reunion. Best wishes to you all.
1970 ALAN DAPPEN Don’t get to the West Coast often anymore. DC metropolitan area is NOT Portland. One of my kids graduated from Reed and keeps threatening to move back to Portland. I’m blessed to be married to the same person who came with me to the 10-year BDH reunion in 1980, which was my last contact with the school and classmates. Much water under the bridge since then, including seven years in California, one year in Mexico, five years in Kenya, 20-plus years in Northern Virginia, two kids (grown and gone), and the last 10 years building a new medical practice and trying to survive in a world where I don’t let insurance companies, Medicare, pharmaceutical companies, or anyone except my patients tell me how to do my job (DocTalker). No retirement plans in sight—figuring I’ll go on until the “bitter end.” Anyone who remembers the good old days, feel free to email me,
alan@DocTalker.com.
1973 SALLY JAMES I keep writing about medicine and research for magazines and websites. Lately, I have expanded to a blog,
www.seattlesciencewriter. com. This reunion year for our class means I’m catching up with many people and using Facebook to keep us all in touch. Thank goodness for social media.
CAROLE TUTTLE FRUECHTL After many years in the medical consulting business, I have transitioned into semi-retirement. I am enjoying my four grandchildren and traveling throughout the great USA with my husband in our 1954 Chevy Bel Air. If you are ever in the Sacramento area or know of a great car show in your area, let me know at
Carole.Fruechtl@
hpmg.com.
1975 SARA STEWART STESSEL Sara writes that she departed New York City in 2002 for Nashville. She left the auction world and is working as an independent art appraiser, providing appraisals for insurance and estate purposes. Her daughter is a junior at USC and her son is set to graduate high school this May. You may contact her at
sstessel@bellsouth.net.
1976 MARCUS HADEED I’m currently working at the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan.
RICK ZUROW I have been busy doing fundraising consulting for nonprofits around town. My wife, Debbie, continues to do recruiting in the staffing industry, working for Boly Welch. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in May. Both of our adult children graduated college in 2011 and have successfully launched their own careers! The only child we have at home is our beloved soft-coated Wheaton terrier, Mikki. She keeps us on our toes, given her playful nature. Haven’t seen many classmates through the years. In the last year or so, I have had the blessing of bumping into or meeting with Janelle Johnson, Alex Zimmer,
Peri Combs, Alica Cash, the Townend twins Nancy and Sally, and Sarah Wysham. It was nice to see all of them ... and I swear they looked exactly like they did back in 1976! Ageless, I tell you!
1980 JENNIFER KENNEDY GUYLER I was married on April 8 in Cancun, Mexico, to Andrew Guyler. Andrew is originally from Nottingham, England, and moved to Oregon to work for a U.S.-based company. We are very happy and now live in Durham, Oregon. Please find me now on Facebook as Jennifer (Kennedy-Lexa) Guyler.
1981 DRUE FERGISON Twelve members of our class (that we know of) are on Facebook. That’s nearly half our class! And some of them are trying to contact some of you “out there.” So, what’s a girl to do? I’m offering to help however I can. Email me at
dfergison@acegroup.cc if you’re trying to connect with anyone in particular. Or, see if the person you’re looking for is on Facebook and send them a message. We may have “lost” Constantine Petropolous, Tammy Wang, Joseph Ng, and Babak Abbas-Zadeh. Anyone have any leads?
