Class Notes Charles Robbins ’89

1989 JULIET HENDERSON I am very lucky to have been awarded a sabbatical by The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, where I teach Spanish. Next year (2013-14) my family and I will live in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. After seven years of harsh New England winters, a year on the Island of Perpetual Spring will be a welcome change. Should any OESians happen to find themselves on this archipelago off the coast of southern Morocco, we would love to host you! jrehenderson@hotmail.com

CHARLES ROBBINS I’m happy to report that I placed second at the last AHDRA race in the 10.9- second “Super Eliminator” category at Woodburn, Oregon, last August. Unfortunately the AHDRA has folded after 35 years of Harley racing. This year, I have joined the NHRA and will be running the Hot Street “heads up” bracket. It’s exciting (and unnerving) because I cannot use wheelie bars anymore. Hope to buy a bigger race bike soon and not worry about crashing off the line doing a wheelie.

Also, I have been hired as a public defender in my hometown so that has been nice. Hope everyone has peace and happiness.

1990 KAR-YEE WU I continue to work for the Multnomah County Health Department. Currently we are working on ways to provide high- quality primary care to our patients. There are a lot of initiatives at play including how to help patients with chronic disease engage in their own care. My 4-year-old son is now in preschool and enjoying it. He has discovered Legos and Star Wars and Angry Birds. My daughter is basically 2 and asserting her authority as much as she can. She also thinks that she’s a mountain goat. There’s never a dull moment at home.

1997 JONATHAN KOWOLIK I hit the five-year mark in New York last year. At times, I do miss Portland and my great family and friends there, but NYC has definitely become home. Sad that I missed the recent reunion festivities. In professional news, I was recently honored to be named by Asset International Chief Investment Officer magazine as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Investment Consultants. Find my profile on their website, ai-cio. com. I would certainly welcome the opportunity to connect with any local OESians.
