Is it well communicated to families?


It was reassuring to note that, yet again, the majority of both serving and non-serving voters were aware of the Armed Forces Covenant (Figure 2). However, when asked how they had found out about it, only 13% of participants said they had heard of it through MoD channels and only 7% through their chain of command.


On a positive note, we saw an improvement in the levels of awareness about the Community Covenant Scheme, with an increase from 9%, in 2012, to 21% of voters this year telling us that they had heard of it. But again, only half of those voters had

sourced their information through MoD or RAF channels – 12% had sourced their information through the national media, word of mouth or the RAF Families Federation.

Whilst we acknowledge the efforts to date made by the MoD Armed Forces Covenant Team and many others to promote


awareness,


the evidence strongly suggests there needs to be a vigorous and continued focus on improving the


lines of communication from the MoD and RAF out to the Service community and their families – be they in SFA, SLA or their own homes.
