WORKBOATS

BESPOKE WORKBOATS FOR CLIENT NEEDS

Blue Wave Maritime Ltd have been involved in the Offshore Renewable market for 2 years, bringing their 30+ years of maritime experience to this new and exciting sector. The workboat market has expanded dramatically since the inception of offshore wind energy and can encompass a wide and eclectic range of vessels from crew transfer vessels, guard vessels, tugs and survey ships.

The company has firmly placed themselves in the market to match suitable vessels to their clients. This involves a requirement from the client for a workboat to conduct a task whether met mast commissioning, crew transfer or survey. Blue Wave can then go to the market and identify the most

suitable vessels, giving the client an idea of cost and suitability. They will conduct an audit of the workboat and bring her onto charter with the ability to conduct on and off hire surveys, inductions and indeed even award The Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) contract.

CASE HISTORY

The company were asked by SgurrEnergy to provide a solution to commissioning two Met Masts in the Southern North Sea. The challenge being that one of the masts was over 55 NM offshore. They identified 3 vessels that were capable of the role and eventually in conjunction with SgurrEnergy awarded the contract to Atlantic Marine and Aviation LLP which supplied the Atlantic Cougar a research/crew transfer vessel. This gave SgurrEnergy the flexibility to keep the technicians at sea for an extended period in order to negate the very lengthy transfer times, some three hours in each direction.

The commissioning is due to take place soon.

SURVEYS

Blue Wave Maritime also provide manning services to Argyll Workboats Limited, specifically the Sea Horse 2, which has conducted surveys for a number of OREI’s.

Surveys have included bird and mammal, benthic and geophysical.
