05-07 JULY 2013Vicarage Farm nr Winchester, Hampshire BLISSFIELDS B

lissfields is a tiny two-day festival, set in the rolling hills of the Hampshire countryside. With a capacity of just 3000, this family friendly festival is bound to be a sell-out, so best to strike while the

iron’s hot and all. A previous winner and regular nominee for the Best Small Festival category in the UK Festival Awards, Blissfields may have slipped under your radar – but don’t let that happen again. How rare is it now to find a festival which leaves you with change from £100, takes less than 10 minutes to walk around, and has tonnes of favourites from the major festivals as well. Mystery Jets and Bastille are sitting pretty in the headline spaces, while made-for-summer calypso champions Teme Park and Mike Skinner’s post-Streets project Te D.O.T will also be performing. Te eclectic micro line up has something for most people, whether reggae, rap or indie is your jam. For more information, go to www.blissfields.co.uk, but be quick! Maddie Russell

01 Heart Of Glass Blondie

13-16 JUNE 2013 Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle Of Wight ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL O

ne of two very good reasons to hop on a ferry to the Isle of Wight this summer (maybe three, Owl & Monkey Haven near Newport is very nearly as exciting as Elton John at Bestival), the first of the

island’s festivals has a massive line up featuring musical gods both old and new. From Blondie to Bloc Party, Sub Focus to Kodaline, as well as the reformation of the Boomtown Rats there is a lot to fit into what will no doubt be a particularly busy weekend. While the weather is notoriously not the best, if the sun does shine it would only be a bonus. Pack wellies, waterproofs, and myriad outfits because you could be swimming in mud or sweating your flower garlands off. If you missed out on Paul Weller or Blondie tickets at Tetford Forest, or the impossible-to-find Everything Everything tickets at Norwich Art Centre, now could be your chance to catch the greats among thousands of very happy festival goers. For tickets and more, check out www.isleofwightfestival.com. Maddie Russell
