Incat Crowther has announced the launch of Kilimanjaro IV, a 45m passenger ferry for the African operator Coastal Fast Ferries. The Australian shipyard said that “the vessel capitalises on the rapid growth in the operator’s passenger numbers”, bringing the Coastal Fast Ferries’ fleet to seven Incat Crowther-designed vessels. It added that a process of “close cooperation between the builder, Richardson Devine Marine, operator and designer resulted in a vessel offering high speed, high passenger capacity and rugged efficiency”. Norwegian ferry operator Kystekspressen has struck a contract with Brødrene Aafor shipyard for two carbon fiber catamarans. The Norwegian shipyard said the new catamarans are based on 40m slender hull designs and will be powered by 2x MTU 16v 2,000 M72diesel engines (2x1440kW),

KPMG Thames Clippers scoops River Bus contract
KPMG Thames Clippers has won a five year contract to run a high speed ‘river bus’ service along the River Thames in London, UK.
The contract, which was awarded by government body Transport for London (TfL) and started in April, has seen KPMG Thames Clippers increase its daily commuter and visitor services from Putney to Blackfriars with a journey time of 39 minutes. The new route has meant KPMG Thames Clippers has added new stops, leading to coverage of 19 piers across the UK’s capital city.
KPMG Thames Clippers founder and managing director Sean Collins said that passengers “will have access to a significant increase in weekday services and with improved integration to the wider transport network across the capital. We are committed to working with TfL to ensure that more people than ever before utilise the river as a mode of transport.”

P&O Ferries refurbishes high speed craft
P&O Ferries has spent £500,000 (US$770,000) on a complete refurbishment of its high speed P&O Express. UK-based Blu Marine was
awarded the contract and, as well as renovating the ship, the refurbishment and outfitting specialist added a new club lounge with capacity for 90 travellers. Blu Marine said it had been designed “particularly with business travellers in mind” and to this end it had been fitted with sockets for passengers to use their laptops, tablets and mobile devices. A new club lounge bar has also been installed. “This refurbishment and
installation is a significant investment in our express service ... it will offer style, comfort, peace and quiet and above all a first class on
