ars Idermark has joined Södra as group chief executive. He was appointed by Södra’s
chairman of Swedbank and a board member of the Chalmers University of Technology Foundation. “A person with outstanding
experience of various elements of trade and industry, Lars Idermark has a good insight into the cooperative form of business. He has many years of experience in senior positions, and he is well equipped to lead Södra,” said Christer Segerstéen, chairman of the Södra Board. His previous positions

include group president and chief executive of Kooperativa Förbundet/Coop, president of the Second Swedish National Pension Fund, acting group president of the Capio healthcare
group and deputy chief executive and acting chief executive of Föreningssparbanken (Swedbank), and before that Föreningsbanken. Idermark is very familiar with
Södra: He has been a board member for many years and also served on the Södra Board of Directors from 1999 to 2009. He will be based at the company’s head office in Växjö. Idermark’s first appearance
for Södra was at May’s general meeting where he gave his outlook on the future opportunities available to Södra and the company. “The Södra of today is a well-
managed company. We have a good financial position, a strong brand, talented staff and active
owners. This gives us the chance to be proactive in the on-going remodelling of the forestry industry and to influence and lead development ourselves,” he said. “Our entire industry is facing major changes. Our traditional products will form the basis for what we produce, but other applications such as plastics, textiles and fuels will take on more and more significance. This is only the beginning of the beginning. The people who stand to benefit the most are the ones who have the ability to see the future and make the most of the opportunities on offer. We can massively increase the value of the forest if we do things right.”
