JESUS LOVES ALL THE LITTLE CHILDREN
by Dora Brookshire, WME Communications Supervisor You Can Share That Love With A Child Today
“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, ‘Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a lit- tle child shall in no wise enter therein.’” –luke 18:16-17
i have been a sunday school teacher for most of my adult life. i have learned that little children are for the most part honest, unpretentious, loving and forgiving. a child when taught about god’s love will take what you tell them at face value. they are willing to believe wholeheartedly that god will do exactly what he says in his Word. god wants us as adults to come to him with the attitude of children, believing and trusting him.
as children, we have sung about how Jesus loves all the children of the world. but god wants us as adults to have the heart to also love all the children of the world. there are many children in countries around the world who do not have the luxury of receiving breakfast every morning. three meals per day is something they have never heard of. new clothes and shoes to begin a school year are something they have never experi- enced. Many of them don’t even get to attend school. and Christmas, “What is that?” they don’t know Jesus came to earth long ago as a baby in a manger and grew up to die on a cross to deliver them from sin.
this is the goal of World Missionary evangelism — to bring the life-changing truth of Jesus and to give these unknown experiences to as many needy chil- dren as we can. not only do we want to give the food and clothes they so desperately need along with the education they long to have, we want to tell them the story of Jesus. We want to let them know that Jesus loves all the children of the world, that there is someone who loves and cares for them and will never leave or forsake them. We want to give them a brighter world today and hope for a much better tomorrow.
