KINGSWEAR REGATTA
Last year, thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity we were able to donate £1,000 to the Dart Lifeboat and £600 to Kingswear Fireworks. We also always give some of the money raised to Kingswear Rowing Club to support the maintenance of the rowing equipment we use for Regatta … and we let rowers have a lie-in …
BACK TO CAKe and the wonderful WI will be there with hot drinks and … well … quite frankly… some seriously delicious cakes. As well as the usual foody favourites such as the Wright Barbecue, spit-roast lamb and Manna from Devon pizzas, a new addition to the food ‘court’ will be a giant seafood paella. The bar will open at 11am and jugs of Pimms will be lined up hoping for a very sunny day indeed.
Children (and adults) can expect to enjoy lots of games and stalls, face painting, and eNTeRTAINMeNT from local groups and the magical PROFessOR FuMBLe who will be teaching circus skills and how to make balloon animals from 1pm onwards. His main show will be held at 2pm as the rowing finishes.
sMALL PRINT: The VeRY good-natured souls who have gone home cold and wet in previous years will be VeRY relieved to know that there will be no dunk tank this year …. so you are safe to come along …honestly !
A PRIZe TIMe !
• At 3pm Lez ellis, our energetic local Town Crier, will an- nounce THe ReGATTA FINALe. The duck race prizes will be awarded and the Grand Raffle drawn …
PLeAse help us then to leave the village green as we would all like to find it.
We hope you will also join us up the road a bit later at 6 pm when we hold our PRIZe-GIVING CeReMONY on the steps of the village hall. There will be a band playing at the ship Inn and of course, the bar will also be open at the nearby steam Packet ….
To all those who come along, who give up their time, who sponsor us and who just generally help in any way to make this such a lovely, unique and traditional village event, all we can say is thank you … Thank You … and if we forget to thank you personally … THANK YOu !!
