category: “Today’s sophisticated consumer is ahead of the curve. They know exactly what they are looking for before they visit the retailer’s showroom. Designs must be stylish with functionality to match and keep the needs of the user in mind whatever they are buying.”
Nick Taylor, Sales Director at Zip Heaters adds that the products in this market need to tick several boxes all at once, pointing to the example of his brand’s HydroTap and Sparkling Hydrotap which he says are environmentally and economically friendly: “Both systems incorporate Power-Pulse technology, which enables the system to adjust power supply to suit demand, to ensure optimum efficiency and help to reduce energy consumption daily. Compare this to the fact that every time you boil a kettle you could power your fridge for seven hours, you can quickly see that it is an easy way to reduce home electricity usage.”
Increasingly, flexibility is key too. For example, Pure H2O’s Quatreau tap has a unique modular approach that allows the consumer to configure a system that suits their needs. Customers can choose all four water options (with or without purification) or they can have just tap with boiling water, tap with chilled water, or a tap with sparkling and chilled.
Ultimately, hot taps offer specifiers a genuine up-sell opportunity and it is one that – at the luxury end of the market at least – presents a compelling argument for adding real value to a kitchen project for the client.
InSinkErator’s Munden says: “For retailers, in a continuously tough economic climate, they need to be at the very top of their game and constantly review their portfolio of products in the search for new opportunities and meaningful profit margins.
“Consumer tastes and demands change all the time and even the most experienced retailer can be caught out and left behind if an important opening is missed. Very often this is due to the seemingly sensible policy of sticking to the tried and tested and overlooking kitchen appliances that become ‘invisible’ through being so discreet and efficient.
“These outstanding products are of the highest quality and do what every great product should do in meeting and satisfying specific consumer requirements.”
