Mapei are delighted to launch the new Elastocolor system. As part of their expanding coatings product line, the new comprehensive coating system consists of Elastocolor Paint, Elastocolor Rasante, Elastocolor Rasante SF and Elastocolor Waterproof. All products are certified to EN 1504-2.
The Elastocolor range offers a complete system of elastomeric acrylic resin-based products suitable for use on concrete, reinforced surfaces and general cementitious substrates prone to cracking and damage, ideal for use in civil engineering, industrial and commercial environments.

Elastocolor Rasante and Elastocolor Rasante SF are intermediate filling coats for the Elastocolor cycle. Whilst Elastocolor Rasante is a fibre-reinforced elastomeric coating offering high elasticity and is free of cements, Elastocolor Rasante SF is a ready- to-use, high thickness, fibre-reinforced, elastomeric coating with good elasticity and high filling properties. Ideal for new or repaired renders, concrete and old plastic coats, both products improve the bond of the substrate, providing flexibility for the Elastocolor finish.
To complete the system, Elastocolor Waterproof is an acrylic paint perfect for use where the substrate needs to be covered with a flexible protective coating due to direct contact with water. Suitable for indoor or outdoor structures such as swimming pools, water features or other structures in direct contact with water, it offers easy to clean properties, with resistance to water, chemicals and acid rain. It can also be used for protecting horizontal concrete surfaces against contact with rainwater, such as flat roofs in combination with cementitious waterproofers such as Mapei Mapelastic.

Mapei showcase concrete repair and structural strengthening systems at The UK Concrete Show 2013
Mapei announce that they will be exhibiting at The UK Concrete Show 2013 on 27th and 28th February at the NEC, Birmingham.
At this year’s show Mapei will be demonstrating their concrete repair and structural strengthening systems. Their interactive stand will be promoting a recycle and repair theme, displaying Mapei’s technologically advanced and sustainable products, including their Fibre Reinforced range and the newly launched product Re- con Zero.
Re-con Zero is Mapei’s sustainable solution to concrete waste, turning un- used concrete into re-usable aggregate with Zero impact. The innovative product has the advantage of turning waste concrete into re- usable aggregate at the concrete plant without the need to re-direct the concrete to a specialist reclaiming unit.

Mapei provide a concrete offer with their 6th RIBA Accredited CPD
Mapei has expanded their CPD programme adding ‘A Guide to Concrete Repair’ to their existing five RIBA assessed and accredited seminars.
‘A Guide to
Concrete Repair’ covers all of the aspects that might
occur when dealing with the protection and repair of concrete and aligns against all 10 parts of the European standard UNI EN 1504. The informative, free of charge seminar covers the topics; the need for
concrete repair, the Standards - BS EN 1504, assessment & typical symptoms; carbonation, chloride & blowholes and corrosion and deterioration.
The CPD is independently certified by RIBA and the Construction CPD Certification Service and provides a valuable tool for architects, specifiers and contractors across the UK and Ireland. Mapei CPD seminars are available to book at company premises, and are carried out by dedicated representatives and include reference material and audiovisual aids.
Each seminar lasts around 40 minutes and includes Q&A’s at the end of each session. A certificate for 1 hour’s CPD can be provided once attendee names have been supplied, which contributes to Continuing Professional Development requirements.

Bridgemaster refurbishment lifts Olympic spirits in Weymouth
Stirling Lloyd’s Bridgemaster waterproofing and anti-skid system has been used as part of a major refurbishment project on The Weymouth Lifting Bridge, after an inspection by Dorset County Council highlighted serious wear and tear and concerns over surface break-up.
Rapid treatment was made even more imperative by Weymouth’s imminent role as host venue for the sailing events in last summer’s Olympics and the need to minimise closure of the bridge and avoid traffic congestion.
Designed for use on orthotropic steel decks, Bridgemaster consists of a primer, a methyl methacrylate resin-based screen combined with an aggregate overscatter and a final sealer coat. This expedient bridge refurbish- ment saw the application of Bridgemaster throughout the 380m2 deck within just three days and ahead of schedule.
