14 SPOTLIGHT ON MASTER TRAINERS

NAME MICHAEL WEETMAN AGE

26

GRADUATED COURSE AREA

OCTOBER 2009 RESIDENTIAL BOLTON

What was your background before training with EIF and becoming a Master Trainer?

Prior to training with the EIF I was a Lance Corporal in the British Army (Infantry). I have been in the Army since I was 17 and now am continuing to dedicate a little of my time as a reservist, helping with the recruit training programmes.

Why did you decide you wanted to become a Personal Trainer?

My initial thoughts were that because I loved being “fit & healthy” that PT was the job for me. As time passed however, I began to understand what my actual role was rather than the perceived role the public may have of trainers.

I began to realise that it was about helping my clients, and catering for their specific needs. It is only when you get hands on that you begin to see that as awesome as your training may be, it has little relevance to your clients. The average client has trouble performing a decent squat, never mind making it ballistic & multi planar!
