This service lets you get out and about in your community. We try to find someone to work with you who likes the same things you do.


You can use this service from 7am-11pm, 7 days a week, all year. Martin’s Story


Martin Telfer has used Watford Mencap’s service for more than 5 years. He has a learning disability and uses a wheelchair. Every Monday, Watford Mencap support worker Alan Whittle visits Martin for 3 hours. Martin, who lives in Hertsmere, says: ‘We enjoy ourselves very much. I look forward to seeing Alan and going out.’ He likes to go to the pub, but also to go out for lunch or shopping. Watford Mencap’s support allows Martin independence to do the activities he enjoys. For the rest of the week he attends a day centre or is at home reading and watching TV. Alan explains: ‘We always have a laugh on Monday; Martin is always smiling. We try to visit different places, but at the end of the day, it’s up to Martin what we do and where we go.’
