DEAN GROUP INTERNATIONAL, EXPERTS IN PRECISION CASTING FOR THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR
Marking its 40th year in the casting industry, Dean Group International hosted a number of events expressing their thanks to its customers, suppliers and employees and also involved local schools and colleges to promote engineering in the area.
Dean Group International (DGI), casting specialists manufacturing investment castings in the UK and providing other types of casting products from their supply partners in the Far East, held a series of events in September to mark their 40th year in the casting industry. Three events hosted over three days at their investment casting foundry in Irlam, Manchester consisted of a supplier and customer day, an education day for local schools and a staff party held in a marquee erected at the foundry premises.
Founded in 1972 as a small family business, the company has gone through many changes including a major strategy decision in 2000 to develop supply partnerships with the Far East. DGI continue to grow and invest in their plant in Irlam, Manchester, increasing staff levels on both the shop floor and in the office to cope with the growing levels of business. They recently expanded the Logistics team implementing additional Project Management capabilities and also employed a Marketing Coordinator to facilitate continuous expansion.
Dean Group International Sales Director Mike Fielding said, “We have identified a key market sector in oil and gas that demands the highest quality castings, we operate a high quality manufacturing plant in Manchester which utilises robotics and automation, combined with 3D CAD design and simulation software and a highly skilled workforce to produce parts that meet and exceed the industry requirements. Whilst we appreciate that quality is the key driving factor within the oil and gas sector, we have not lost sight of the commercial aspects, our tightly controlled overheads, and system and process controls ensure we are highly competitive, without compromise. ”
Where the application is more commercially sensitive, DGI can offer a fully risk managed and quality controlled supply route via a network of supply partners in China, who all work to the same exacting standards. All work sourced this way is subject to a full engineering assessment and casting
simulation at DGI, all manufacturing and inspection information is provided by us, right through to the packaging spec. Everything that is supplied by them comes to us first and is over checked both dimensionally and chemically prior to delivery. Our main supply partner works extensively for the oil and gas sector producing high volume and high value parts which are often subject to extensive NDT and radiography.
