OFFSHORE GIANTS SIGN UP TO ALTOR’S NEW INCIDENT MANAGEMENT CENTRE

Two multi-national oil and gas operating companies have signed up to receive 24-hour / 365 days per year emergency support from a newly opened Aberdeen- based Incident Management Centre (IMC).

Altor Risk Group will provide modern crisis management facilities and services to BG’s North Sea operations and Talisman’s West Africa operations from their £250,000 state-of-the-art emergency response hub.

The centre will provide round the clock support to companies in the event of an emergency situation, including a pool of specialist responders, effective practical training exercises and simulations, advice and consultancy.

Energy Minister, Fergus Ewing, announced the first contracts for the IMC during a tour of the newly opened facilities at Lord Cullen House, Fraser Place in Aberdeen.

Commenting on the new facility and contract wins, Mr Ewing said: “I congratulate Altor Risk

Management on the opening of their new incident management centre and winning new contracts. Scotland has world leading skills in oil and gas, and this is a great example of the innovation which goes into supplying the sector.

“The oil and gas sector is vitally important to Scotland’s economy. With more than half of the value of the North Sea’s oil and gas reserves yet to be extracted, up to 24 billion recoverable barrels with a potential wholesale value of £1.5 trillion, oil and gas will remain an enormous economic resource for decades to come.”

Facilities at Altor’s incident management centre include a high specification emergency response control room facility, using the latest communications and management technologies, and associated support services for companies operating in challenging environments on and offshore in the North Sea and beyond.

As part of the service, global asset tracking and command, control and information

management software systems allow responders to make decisions based on real-time information, and log every step of an incident to ensure lessons can be learned at every stage.

Altor has recruited some of the most experienced incident management and emergency response operatives in the country to run and staff the centre.
