Romantic Germany and Benelux 12 Days /11 Nights


DAY 1: Sunday - Frankfurt.Arrival at Frankfurt airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore at your leisure. The financial and commercial heart of Germany, Frankfurt boasts a fascinating contrast between the modern and historic. Accommo- dation at the Hotel Mövenpick Frankfurt City****. At 7pm, you will meet your guide at the welcome dinner at the hotel. DAY 2: Monday - Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Freiburg. In the morning you travel to Heidelberg to visit the famous castle and tour the historic city center. Idyllically located on the shores of the Neckar River, Heidelberg is Germany’s oldest university town and one of the most popular destinations in the country. We continue the tour to Freiburg. Accommodation at the Park Hotel Post. DAY 3: Tuesday - Freiburg - Lake Titi - Lindau - Füssen.After break- fast you enjoy a sightseeing tour of lovely Freiburg, famous for its beautiful church tower. Then we continue to Lake Titi, nestled in the legendary Black Forest. Make your own Schwarzwalder Kirchtort and savor it afterwards with a cup of coffee and watch a short presentation on the cuckoo clock production. Visit the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which boasts spectacular views of the Alps. After a brief stop, we conclude our day in Füssen, the most southern point of our tour of Romantic Germany. Accommodation at the Hotel Hirsch. DAY 4: Wednesday - Neuschwanstein - Wieskirche - Oberammer- gau - Ettal Abbey - Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In the morning we visit Neuschwanstein castle, built by Ludwig II, the notorious, Mad King“. In the afternoon we travel to Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play and lovely crafts. Along the way we visit the Wieskirche Church and the Ettal Benedictine Abbey. Taste the tasty cheese on a visit to the local cheese factory. Today‘s final destination is Garmisch- Partenkirchen, Germany’s winter sports capital and site of the 1936 winter Olympics. This mountainous region also features Germany’s highest peak, Zugspitze (9.715 ft). Accommodation at the Hotel Rheinischer Hof.

DAY 5:Thursday - Garmisch - Partenkirchen - Innsbruck - Linderhof - Munich.We start the day with a sightseeing tour of Innsbruck, Austria. This city is located in the Inn valley, in the heart of the Alps. An optional excursion (instead of Innsbruck, not included) is to ascend to the top of Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak. In the afternoon we travel to Munich and visit Linderhof castle. This is one of the 3 castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one where he lived for a significant amount of time. Accommodation at the Hotel Excelsior. DAY 6: Friday - Munich.After breakfast you visit the city‘s main attractions, concluding the tour at Marienplatz square with its famous clock tower. The capital of Bavaria, Munich is famous for its Oktoberfest, which is actually celebrated in September. Free time. In the evening you enjoy a traditional Bavarian dinner with folk music. Accommodation at the Hotel Excelsior. DAY 7: Saturday - Munich - Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Frankfurt. This morning you travel to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Sightseeing tour of Rothenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Romantic Germany concluding with a Schneeballen (snowball) tasting, a pastry considered the signature dish of Rothenburg. We continue our tour to Frankfurt. Accommodation at the Hotel Mövenpick Frankfurt City****. DAY 8: Sunday - Frankfurt - Rhine Valley - Cologne. In the morning we travel to Cologne. Our itinerary takes us along the most beautiful stretch of the Rhine valley with magical scenery and medieval castles. Upon arrival in Cologne we enjoy a tour of the metropolis on the Rhine. The spires of the gothic cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage site) dominate the skyline of this old German city filled with numerous art treasures, lovely museums and a rich cultural agenda.
