Emma Duggan – portraits with attitude T
he second True Colours seminar in November features Emma Duggan, an Associate who goes straight for the maximum ‘personality presence’ in her portraiture as you can see from
these examples. But there’s more to it than this. Emma admires the work of
today’s documentary portrait photographers who look for a level of meaning above the smile for camera. She’s trying to create family portraits which can hold their own in a gallery, or last for more than just the generation which commissions them – the kind of family portraits which will still be on the wall in 100 years’ time. She’s also perfectly willing to tackle straightforward studio groups, children (with a considerable bias to the under-10s in her
diary), teens, adults and pets. Emma has been very successful in the MPA South East Regional Awards this year. See:
