Sizing up the competition JW Marriott Marquis set to plug gap for large-scale meetings
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is set to open later this year, joining a feted list of iconic buildings on the emirate’s renowned skyline. The 1,608-room hotel will open in two phases with the first section fea- turing 804 rooms and numerous restaurants and lounges. With its location at the heart
of Dubai’s business district, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai will tar- get not only high-end business travellers, but also the growing meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector, thanks to its scale and capability of hosting large corporate groups. At a height of 355 metres, the
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the tallest dedicated hotel building in the world and is just 26 metres shorter than the Empire State Building in New York, US. “The potential to cater for the
growing needs of the global busi- ness community is huge and we believe the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is uniquely placed in that
regard,” said Rupprecht Queitsch, General Manager. “The hotel will fill a long iden-
tified gap in the market where groups, meetings and conventions of up to 1,000 people can meet, sleep and dine under one roof, in one location. There are businesses of this size choosing various cit- ies around the world in which to meet, but until now, Dubai has not had a single location big enough to accommodate this group size. In simple terms, we will establish Dubai on the global conference market landscape.” Over the past decade, Dubai has built a reputation as the Middle East’s business and tourism hub. GIBTM gathers momentum for 2013 show
