Yas Marina Circuit may not readily spring to mind as a corporate events venue, but apart from year-round motor sports action, its credentials include state-of- the art meeting facilities that complement one of the world’s most renowned racing tracks. Racing fans will be aware that hosted events at the circuit include the annual Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix attracting 50,000 attendees over four days. Speaking to meetme, Kamal Raza, Director Business Development at Yas Marina Circuit, says educating meeting planners about the diverse offerings at the circuit is integral to marketing strategy, as the meeting and incentive segment has become the second largest revenue contributor to the Yas complex after Formula 1. “F1 is something that we do very well, but we are also mindful that we
need to take the business outside of F1. We see meetings and incentives as areas that provide us with the greatest amount of growth. In order to maximise this segment’s potential, we have taken a very direct sales approach, whereby creating relationships with corporate guests who have visited the circuit during F1. We show them how the venue can be used for a number of activities for companies,” says Raza, adding that one of Yas Marina Circuit’s unique selling points as a business venue lies in the fact that its conference and meeting facilities can cater for a diverse group size, from two to 2,000. Accessibility is also a major attraction. At just a 10-minute drive from Abu
Dhabi International Airport and about 45 minutes’ drive from Dubai, Yas Marina Circuit is strategically located, giving clients several ways to reach the site.
