MY PITCH / BANYAN TREE AL WADI - RAS AL KHAIMAH

BAN MY PITCH

Ras Al Khaimah’s impressive landscape and desert wildlife add an exotic element to meetings at the Banyan Tree Al Wadi , says Anders Dimblad, Area General Manager

What type of meetings/events/conferences can you help me organise at Banyan Tree Al Wadi? Our property offers a dedicated conference block that’s fully equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment, LCD projectors and complimentary Internet access. The stylish Banyan Hall can accommodate up to 140 guests and is the perfect location for meetings and private group dinner events. For small, intimate meetings, Najah can be divided into two spaces seating up to 60 persons in each. With around 100 hectares of private nature reserve, the resort’s infrastructure allows us to tailor our offer to suit guests’ requirements through unique group activities and desert dining. We have welcomed companies from neighbouring emirates, as well as from overseas for meeting and incentive trips. Whether guests want rustic or luxurious, we can customise our offering and meet every need.

I am looking for an event with a ‘wow’ factor. What can you offer that other venues in the UAE can’t? We understand that it’s not always about having a full day of meetings within the conference facilities. With the vast desert landscape, groups can partake in breathtaking interactive falconry shows, horse riding, camel strolling and dune bashing. We also offer a 60-minute Rainforest Experience hydrothermal circuit in our award-winning Banyan Tree Spa Al Wadi. A favourite activity among groups is cocktails at sunset after a

long day of meetings at the main watering hole where the wildlife gathers, one of our key areas here. Groups that like to start the day off early can take part in our sunrise yoga class at the scenic falconry deck or within the rolling sand dunes of our nature reserve among resident gazelle and oryx.

I am considering organising a meeting that involves a memorable culinary experience. Any suggestions? Khan Zaman, which means once upon a time, is an authentic dining experience located within the nature reserve, surrounded by vast sand dunes and indigenous ghaf trees. Set in an astonishing landscape, this venue is an experience in traditional Bedouin-style dining. Our signature Thai restaurant Saffron offers authentic Thai cuisine overlooking the nature reserve’s watering hole. Located on the upper deck of Samar Lounge, the Moon Bar

is another breathtaking location for group sunset cocktails and canapés or dinner under the stars. This exquisitely designed roof terrace overlooks the sprawling desert and rolling dunes.

Some of my delegates will bring their families along. What facili- ties and services can the hotel offer and what activities can you suggest for them? The resort has much to offer families. Popular outdoor activities include horse riding, guided nature walks, archery, desert safaris, bike trails and a wide range of water sports at Banyan Tree Ras Al Khaimah Beach. Falconry is a heritage sport with various equipment and

special knots to master, plus bird husbandry to understand. At Banyan Tree Al Wadi, guests can take a falconry course or learn more about the birds during the daily falconry display which includes some interaction. It is exhilarating to witness these birds of prey swoop in and take a piece of meat from your gloved hand. A dedicated Kids’ Club offers young guests, aged four years and above, an array of exciting, fun and educational activities.
