aising seven daughters has given Ziad Jaber a helpful perspective on creating fitness club environments for the 21st century.
“If the women are happy, the boys always follow,” smiles
the 60-ish entrepreneur and master franchisee for Gold’s Gym Canada. Since buying his first Gold’s club in 1999, Jaber has built a
Canadian success story on the foundations of the company that began in Venice, California, in 1965. A former amateur boxer, Jaber thought the growing fitness industry would be a moneymaker and a lifestyle he could embrace. It has turned out to be true on both counts. In 2003, Jaber’s company, Northland, won the right to be-
come the master franchisee for Gold’s Gym Canada. Jaber is one of the company’s 22 master franchisees in the world. Gold’s Gym has more than 700 locations in 30 countries with more than 3.5 million members.
