09 Consignment Shop

Offers Touch of Class Cheryl Phelps found herself with a large increase in her possessions after her mother died. The Jefferson County res- ident, retired from the National Institute of Health, opened a consignment store to pare down her inventory of inherited furniture and other items she has picked up from auctions and estate sales. She started by selling her inventory, and is now accepting items for consignment. A Touch of Class is nestled in the alley behind Wear It

Again Kid along Washington Street in Charles Town. The shop offers unique gifts, finds, and furnishings in the form of high-end consignments. While A Touch of Class specializes in furniture and glass-

ware, there is a little bit of everything, from pottery to pic- tures and mirrors, clocks and other items. Some of the fur- niture brands include Henkel Harris, Broyhill, Ethan Allen and Pennsylvania House. Glassware includes Fenton and Waterford Crystal. Phelps also has a variety of lighting fixtures and lamps

that include some vintage pieces. She has a selection of Ori- ental furnishings among the items that have all been care- fully situated over the last four months as she has put the store together with the help of boyfriend and landlord, Larry Fritts, whose family has owned the building since 1960. A Touch of Class, is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10am–5pm, and Sunday Noon till 4pm.
