Series Underway By Elaine Swiss
Not everyone received a blue ribbon,
but all of the competitors at the NATRC Wimberley Wayfarer CTR at Storm Ranch were winners. The wildflowers were in full bloom and the creeks were running as the riders took to the trail on May 5-6 in Dripping Springs. Teams enjoyed one or two days of competition judged by Dr. Carter Hounsel of Austin and Patsy Con- ner of Little Rock, Arkansas. The NATRC Wayfarer was the first of the
three-event series that comprises the Storm Ranch Trail Versatility Championship. The highest scoring teams at the Wayfarer were Patti Hicks and RPH Go Special Star of Lodi, Barbie Van Order and Hes A Rockstar of Arlington and Carla Jo Bass and Spooky Doo of Red Oak. Six teams competed in their first-ever NATRC event and all did very well with plans to enter more NATRC rides in the fall. The next event of the Storm Ranch Trail
Versatility Championship series is the Texas Trail Challenge Summer Stroll on June 2, fol- lowed by the AERC Riding the Storm En- durance races on October 6-7. Teams that compete in all three events are eligible to win the German Crystal vase mounted on an oak base crafted out of a tree limb from the ranch. More than 20 teams participated in all three events in 2011.w
