Disney/Pixar Cars is the number 1 most received character merchandise in the UK. With an amazing global turnout





approximately 70 million people watched Cars 2 in theaters and over half of kids aged 2-11 years have seen Cars Toons with total unique views of 23 million. Cars 2 was the largest licensing release event of all time with Diecast selling 23 million Diecast cars.


• Lightning McQueen is the most popular Disney/Pixar Cars character for boys in the UK, followed by Mater, Finn McMissile and Francesco.


• To further cement the brand, in summer 2012 Disney Parks & Resorts will open 12 acres of Cars Land, featuring three new immersive attractions at Disney California Adventure.


• Cars2 was the 8th biggest fi lm of 2011 and the number 1 Animated fi lm of 2011


• Disney/Pixar Cars was the biggest toy franchise in the UK for 2011


Marketing Activity Disney will be supporting this property through brand new content


and consumer products for 2012 and beyond, with a new portfolio of merchandise for children, adults and collectors alike, with multiple price points to suit all audiences. Content developments include new Cars Toons shorts which will feature as a bonus on Disney DVDs, and offered in high


rotation on Disney Channel and Disney XD, as well as through other digital platforms. Some of these shorts will debut at cinemas as a preview to other animated fi lms highlighting the enduring popularity of these characters.


The entire company will be getting behind the Cars Take Flight programme, with stage 1 focused around Air Mater. There will be supporting products and cross company marketing activity, leading into stage 2 when the new movie, Planes, launches. Whilst the Cars Toons and Planes are incremental programmes to the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise, Racing and Spy will remain the core themes.


Cars Toons: Many more toons are in development and the next installment sees a tow service leading Mater


into the world of Planes. Amazed by all these fl ying machines, Mater gets interested to learn to fl y and encounters a high fl ying adventure with The Falcon Hawks!, Air Mater will be the focus content for all Disney platforms this autumn, kicking off the Cars Take Flight initiative as we transition to “Above the world of Cars”.
