“It’s a man’s world”…or is it? The underlying notion in James Brown’s classic song is the following lyric... “But it wouldn’t be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl.”

So thank you, women of South-Central Pennsylvania. As a publisher in the natural health and wellness field, and I walk through what is predominately a “woman’s world,” I’m honored to express appreciation, respect and admiration to those of you that embrace and spread the word about natural health, wellness and sustainable living throughout our growing community.

I can’t speak from a woman’s perspective, yet I understand that today, women of all ages are experiencing discomfiting hormone imbalances caused by many modern-day factors, from exposure to a plethora of chemicals in personal care products, cleaning solutions and the environment to the stresses of busy lives. According to a recent article in Time magazine, nearly half of U.S. households today are primarily supported by women, adding to their long list of responsibilities.

While being the lead family wage earner indicates hard-earned progress, freedom and economic power for women, it can also wreak havoc on women’s physical being. Fortunately, we can embrace natural ways to stay healthy and with this issue, we discover natural ways to balance our hormones, a core element of physical well-being. Kathleen Barnes suggests solutions for every age group in “The Hormone Balancing Act” (page 20).

Chris Clarke, of Sunrise Soap Company, in York, is passionate about educating women and men about the benefits of natural skin and personal care products. Her business is featured in our Community Spotlight on page 14. Do you see a surprising number of wrinkles when you look in the mirror? Forgo synthetic injections and risky surgery and instead make appointments for more natural alternatives, such as facial acupuncture and microcurrent facial sculpting, mentioned in “Anti-Aging Skincare” (page 24).

We are excited to bring you this month’s issue on Women’s Wellness, chock full of helpful information to support you and all the women in your life. Let’s all join in nurturing and expanding the amazing web of natural healing that is connecting and blessing South-Central Pennsylvania … and beyond. For all of the men out there, be assured that we’ll spotlight men’s needs and strengths next month.

Celebrating all that mother our world, remember to feel good, live simply, laugh more. Dave Korba, Publisher
