Why a doula is important for every birth Many people believe that a doula only attends homebirths,
or intervention-free births, but that is not the case. A doula can be an immense help for all women regardless of where and how they choose to birth. Giving birth is the most intense, vulnerable and life-changing experience a woman will go through. Doulas are trained to help you find your inner strength and lead you to a place of calm and acceptance. A doula can help nurture, sup- port, and empower you to birth the way you desire, and to make the experience more positive overall regardless of outcome.

Many doulas are trained and working towards certification,
and many doulas will work together with each individual client on prices. Finances should never be the main reason to opt out of doula support, as many doulas can negotiate fees. There is a saying that “peace on earth begins with birth”. The
way that the next generation is guided into this world is vital. Whether the birth is medicated, or un-medicated, natural or cesarean birth, it can still be a positive, impactful experience for both the mother and baby. A doula's “job” of helping to guide a family into welcoming a new baby is so incredibly rewarding. Make sure that you do it right the first time, and seriously con- sider hiring a doula to help you every step of your birthing jour- ney. Every woman deserves to have a positive birth experience. Every woman deserves a trained labor companion to support both the laboring woman and her partner during this incredible time of their lives.
