Broadcast TECH APPOINTMENTS CONWAY TAKES OVER AT BBC S&PP


BBC Studios and Post Production has appointed David Conway to the role of chief operating officer. Con- way will be responsible for leading and managing BBC S&PP’s business support functions, including finance, HR, business systems and procure- ment. He is currently head of invest- ment and major projects at BBC Corporate Finance and has been a


non-executive member of the BBC S&PP board since mid-2011. Conway replaces recently appointed Pact chair Debbie Man-


ners, who was interim chief operating officer for nine months. He starts in his new role on 1 May.


ANDY WELTMAN PINEWOOD Pinewood Stu- dios Group has appointed Andy Weltman to the role of executive vice-president


of Pinewood USA. Weltman will be based at the facilities group’s Los Angeles office, where he will be responsible for managing Pinewood’s US clients and co- ordinating the studios’ inter- national sales activity. Prior to his appointment, he was execu- tive vice-president of US produc- tion for the British Film Commis- sion in LA, where he has been based for four years.

Soho post house Envy has recruited Blair Wallace as a senior colourist. Wallace has


recently worked as a freelance colourist at facilities including Evolutions and Clear Cut Pic- tures, and on Channel 4 series such as Dragonfly Productions’ One Born Every Minute and Mav- erick TV’s Embarrassing Bodies.

LOVATT QUITS MEDIACITY STUDIOS DEPARTURE


The head of Peel and SIS’s post-production operation at MediaCity UK (pictured) has resigned after less than a year in the role. Mark Lovatt joined MediaCity Studios Limited (MCSL), the joint venture between SIS and property developer Peel, in June last year to head up the company’s post opera- tion. SIS chief executive David


Holdgate said Lovatt resigned mid-way through the month. “He resigned and wanted to leave as soon as he could, so we let him go. We have some interim resource in place from our own management structure and we are recruiting his replace- ment now.” A candidate for the post-production role is expected to be chosen by the end of April.
