AUDIO

Two XLR audio inputs are built into the camera, with phantom power and attenuation options. An ECM-XM1 shotgun microphone is mounted on top of the handle, which Sony says gives it audio recording performance similar to larger, shoulder-mounted ENG- style cameras. The HXR-NX30E can record 48kHz/16-bit linear PCM audio.

IMAGING

The HXR NX30E shoots at 1920 x 1080 resolution and has a back- illuminated 1/2.88-inch image sensor that uses Sony’s Exmor R CMOS technology for a range of frame rates at 1080/50p, 25p, 50i and 720/50p. Still images can be taken while shooting video.

PROJECTOR

For checking rushes, a built-in projector can show images up to 100 inches wide when projecting 5m from a screen. A 40-inch image can be projected at 2m from a screen.
