6 Maidstone Borough Council
News in brief We’re improving our website and we need your help
High Street nears completion
The High Street Regeneration Project is nearing its end and is expected to be finished by the end of April. There will be an official opening on Friday, June 1.
We’re working to improve our website for you by simplifying the amount of information and increasing the range of services you are able to apply for online, but we need your help.
Tell us what you would really like to be able to do on our website, how easy the information is to read, and how easy (or difficult) it is to find.
Your views matter to us, because we want to shape our website to be more useful for what you need it for.
The council is working to deliver a new website by the end of 2012.

Pippin Court opens its doors
Local people with enduring mental health needs are settling into a new supported housing development in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone. Officially opened in January, the 11 one-bedroom development delivers much needed affordable, sustainable homes.
Maidstone is the most desirable place to live in Kent
Maidstone Borough has the best quality of life in Kent. The annual Halifax Quality of Life Survey tracks where living standards are highest in the United Kingdom by ranking all 405 local authority districts based on jobs, the housing market, education, health, low levels of crime, relatively good weather, traffic flows and broadband access.
Maidstone came eighth in the UK, ahead of Tunbridge Wells which was 12th and Ashford, 27th. Other Kent towns in the top fifty were Sevenoaks (38th), Tonbridge and Malling (46th) and Gravesham (49th).
Maidstone scored highest in the UK for employment with a rate of 84%, closely followed by the Shetland Islands which had an employment rate of 83.8%.
We’d like you to tell us which tasks you’d most like to use our website for – perhaps it is to look for jobs or find a house to live in? Do you use the website to comment on planning applications and pay your bills online, or do you simply want to find out when we’re picking up your rubbish? Could it be something else that we don’t currently offer?
If you’re interested in the council’s website why not get on board and join one of our customer focus groups? We will be looking for help testing our changes and gaining ideas straight from you – our residents and customers. We would also like help refining the new site once it has been launched. If you’re interested fill out the survey telling us your name, postcode and supplying your email address and we’ll be in touch.
