Plinth offered HERITAGE Design Homes, who are building in Bearsted, have offered to provide a ragstone plinth for the Jubilee plaque. The parish council plans to deconstruct the fountain, which no longer works, and create a concrete base for the plinth, ready for the plaque being de- signed by artist Susan Norfolk.


Recycling praise A BEARSTED councillor has applauded Maidstone’s recy- cling initiatives. Cllr Richard Ash said the bor-


ough was recycling some 50% of its waste, compared with just 18% a few years ago.

Councillors cleared of misconduct


Dyke, Jon Hughes, Paul Young, and Paul Blackmore – breached the code of conduct, a decision which was endorsed by the standards subcommittee on February 29. However, a second allegation of misconduct relat- ing to Mr Dyke will now be re- ferred for further consideration.

School parking plea ALASTplea to parents of pupils at Bearsted’s two schools has come from PCSO Jim Stevens. Despite warnings, parents continue to flout parking re- strictions near the school en- trances, risking pupils’ lives. In future, parents run the risk


of getting a parking ticket, the PCSO told the parish council.
