Alumni Update 1950s
Ann (Ryall) Garnett ’54 writes: I retired from teaching A-level Sociology in 1996 and served as magistrate from 1976 to 2006 when I had to retire on age grounds. I married Christopher Garnett in 1963 and we had two children, James (born 1967) and Elizabeth (born 1970). James and his wife Ali now have two children, Miriam (18 and intending to study dance) and Joe (15 and a judo expert). Music runs in the family as my husband is very musical and my son teaches would-be teachers of music at Reading Institute of Education as well as being an organist. My daughter runs a Barber Shop group, arranges, coaches, conducts and judges Barber Shop performances. We’re all grateful for the excellent music teaching received at BHS.
