BEST TAKE-OUT IN THE O.C.

Historical Angelo’s and Vinci’s Ristorante There is only one thing better than

incredible Italian food and that is Italian take-out. One of the very best is Angelo’s and Vinci’s, originally conceived by Master Dancer and Actor Stephen Peck. He appeared in over 100 television and movie roles during Hollywood’s heyday and that adds to the charm of the place. Peck originally opened the restaurant forty years ago right next door to his legendary dance studio as a means to feed his dance students. Stephen passed of cancer in 2005, but his beautiful wife of 22 years Cynthia has kept his legacy and magic alive and well. In fact, the covers of the take-out pizza boxes are graced with his name along with the artwork of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. With its authentic quality ingredients,

TAKE ME OUT AND THEN TAKE ME HOME

Everyone knows that sometimes it is just easier to get take-out than to go through the ritual of shopping, prepping, cook- ing and then concluding with clean-up. Besides it is always an adventure to try other types of cooking. When it comes to tasty, consistent take-out in Southern Cali- fornia, I have many years of investigation under my belt and these diverse choices are some of my favorite eat out-of-the- carton take-out restaurants.

you can feel the love and history in every bite. If you make the drive, make sure to check out the over-the-top Italian décor and incredible choreography of the huge staff. The enormous kitchen has an open view to the take-out area, which is always busy. They have the ultimate Italian take-out with over 50 handmade pastas and some of the best pizzas on the west coast. Having a masterful menu of home-style Italian dishes makes deciding what to choose next to impossible. Most O.C. residents however, come here for the pizza. The Chicago-style, deep-dish pie tips the scale at almost six pounds and is heaped with melted cheese, fresh meats and toppings of your choice. The signature lasagna melts in your mouth and both pizzas; the Portobello drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and the basil and tomato topped with Genoa rule. Angelo’s & Vinci’s, 550 N. Harbor Boule- vard, Fullerton, CA. Call 714.879.4022 or menu at angelosandvincis.com.

BEST TAKE-OUT IN LONG BEACH

The Naples Rib Company Since 1984, the Ursini family, barbeque

experts extraordinaire have mastered one of the most tender, sumptuous baby back ribs around. At the helm are brothers, Dave (Naples) and John Ursini (Newport)

who have provided appreciative locals, daily newbies and tourists with a complete selection of Midwestern aged corn-fed USDA choice steaks and prime rib, fresh grilled swordfish, chicken, fresh salads and sandwiches. The Naples Rib Company’s take-out menu is perfect for impeccably prepared food in the comfort of your own home or office and is just a phone order away. I highly recommend the PIG PACK which feeds six to eight. It’s like a Thanksgiving barbeque feast graced with two dozen baby back and short ribs, eight pieces of chicken, three sliced sau- sages, a one-pound brisket, eight pieces of cornbread and the option of two pints of side orders. I tried all of the sides which inclued BBQ beans, coleslaw, garlic mashed potatoes, potato salad, rice pilaf, chili, mac & cheese, mashed or sweet potatoes. Every side had its own unique flavorful explosion and they all worked well together. Naples Rib Company, 5800 E. 2nd Street, Long Beach. Menu at ribcompany.com. For reservations call 562.528.7427. Newport Rib Company, 2196 Harbor Boulevard Costa Mesa, Open for Pick-Up at 10:30a.m. daily. Call: 949.631.2110

BEST TAKE-OUT IN L.A.

Full House Seafood Restaurant Whenever I get a craving for consistently

tasty Chinese take-out, I wind up at Full House in Chinatown. For the last 20 years, I knew that I was going to get appetizing authentic Asian cuisine at very affordable prices and a diverse selection from the huge menu. If I don’t stay and eat in the kitschy, dated yet comfortable dining room, I take my favorites to go. Usually one
