The show’s design-led focal piece, the Sleepotel, returned for the third year, bigger and better than ever. Visitors to this unique space stepped into another world of design, where exclusive collaborations from leading interior designers and architects brought to life their vision for the hotel of the future. Kutch Design created a minimalist, modern and zen-like environment, while Kohler brought together its bathroom and interior brands in ‘7 Brands: 1 Solution’. Soho-based design agency Montage presented Arm4da, a newly developed design technology through an experiential roomset with dedicated entrance and exit. A dark and grounding corridor – displaying three pieces of artwork to represent presence, acceptance and love – led to the guestroom where a fourth image represented the destination. The formulaic creative process uses artistic intelligence to evoke a fourth dimension of design said to bring a strong sense of awakening and revitalisation to the client. A-typic, designed by the award-winning Rare Architecture. Their concept challenges the perception of atypical hotel room dimensions through the need to develop functional and comfortable hotel rooms with a cutting- edge design for non-standard hotel room dimensions. The central spine element containing all facilities is developed as an island, but the novelty lies in the fact that this island is an assemblage of well-crafted furniture elements, rather than a monolithic block. Rare is currently collaborating with


Anne Kyyrö Quinn, Ligne Roset, Corian, Villeroy & Boch, Lano, Geberit, Bristan and Ligna to develop a range of dual- function furniture pieces, responding to such constrained conditions. Luxury Hotel Cosmetics, one of Europe’s largest suppliers of guestroom amenities, presented a feast for the senses from its roomset, where visitors could sample the vast range of products on offer from brands such as Miller Harris, Zenology, Cinq Mondes, and Elemental Herbology. bar area. The stunning space, designed by Graven Images and installed by specialist fit-out contractor Thomas Johnstone, featured back-lit die-cut screens manufactured from Porcelanosa’s solid surface material Krion, with furniture by Ligne Roset, lighting by Artemide and a state-of-the-art television supplied by Loewe. Guests were invited to sample cocktails conjured up by mixologists in what became a popular haunt. Returning for the second year were the Product Innovation Awards, where the most innovative new products in the hotel design industry were on display. This year’s winner
