In his forty year career, Reardon told that the biggest change has been the industry’s acceptance of contemporary design solutions, recalling that where clients were once afraid of creating something different, they were now challenging designers to find new solutions. Also recipient of The Outstanding Contribution Award, Reardon proved a worthy winner and put his success down to “a deep and fundamental knowledge of how hotels work”.
New for 2011 and commencing the

waiting to discuss the latest issues. In one of the most anticipated sessions, Rosita Missoni talked about the Italian fashion brand’s move into the hotel market. Having founded the label in 1953, Rosita and her husband’s designs became known wordwide for their bold colours and zigzag patterns. Rosita went on to develop a homeware range and is now leading the design and development of Missoni Hotels in partnership with Rezidor. With hotels open in Edinburgh and Kuwait, the Creative Director revealed a pipeline of properties in Turkey, Mauritius, Oman, and Brazil. Further sessions explored topics such as
the value chain, challenges faced by the mid- market, new perspectives in hotel design, and development pipelines with representatives from Hilton, Starwood, Koncept, Rare, STR Global and many more. In addition, free-to- attend seminar sessions on the exhibition floor explored trends, sustainable architecture, and London’s newest hotel bars.
