ROBIN HUTSON “It’s really a restaurant with rooms,” says Hutson, of his latest property The Pig – a reinvention of the country house hotel with interiors based on vintage and recycled furnishings and an emphasis on fresh, seasonal food grown in the hotel’s kitchen garden or foraged from its New Forest surroundings.

De Margerie looked to the 1930s as a starting point for her designs for the guestrooms, spa and public areas at the Mandarin Oriental Paris. She has drawn on a period that was “alive with richness and variety” with era-specific textures and materials such as lacquer, crystal and gold leaf, treated in modern ways.


PATRICK JOUIN Paris design studio Agence Jouin Manku created the interiors for the restaurants and bar at the Mandarin Oriental Paris. The signature Thierry Marx restaurant features walls and ceiling draped in white fabric by artist Heidi Winge Ström in collaboration with Jouin Manku and Siegeair and Lallier.

WILLIAM LIM “What sets this project apart from other hotels is that it has an educational mission for the development of tourism in Hong Kong,” says Lim, Managing Director of CL3 Architects, of the recently completed Hotel Icon. The hotel doubles as a teaching and research facility for The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
