Sequence has donated a further £10,700 to CLIC Sargent, the cancer charity for children and young people. The money was raised by staff across the UK who took part in a range of events last year, including an event in December to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month which raised £1,800. Other events included mulled wine and mince pie afternoons, auction of promises, cake sales, raffles, a charity golf auction, ‘Bring a £1 to work day’, skydives, 5-a-side football tournaments, marathons, plus much more. Sequence UK has supported

CLIC Sargent since 2001 and raised over £330,000; there are plansfor further fundraising throughout 2011. Presenting the cheque to CLIC

Belvoir Goes Green!

Belvoir has announced an affiliation with Macmillan Cancer Support, and aims to raise £10,000 for the charity by the end of January 2012. Belvoir MD Dorian Gonsalves says,

“Many Belvoir offices already support charities of their choice and this will of course continue, but towards the end of last year, Belvoir set up a charity committee to look at ways that as many offices as possible could support a charity with both a strong national and local community presence. “After extensive discussion a

decision was taken to back Macmillan because of the amazing work it does.” Ellie Wallis, a member of Belvoir’s

franchise support team and a keen supporter of Macmillan, said, “Belvoir launched its campaign on 1st February with Go Green Day. We encouraged our offices to participate by wearing something green and inviting staff to donate a small sum of money to Macmillan.

“Go Green Day will really help to get our campaign off to a flying start and help us reach our overall group target of £10,000 by January next year.” Staff at Belvoir’s Central Office and

at the company owned Belvoir Grantham office, really got into the spirit of the charity launch by dressing up green, and selling green sweets and cookies as well as Macmillan badges. “It was a fantastic day, and will be

one of many exciting fundraising events throughout the year,” said Ellie. Gemma Shaw, fundraising manager

at Macmillan, attended the launch and said, “A heartfelt thank you goes out to Belvoir for choosing Macmillan Cancer Support. The help Macmillan provides, from nurses to financial aid, is funded by generous donations, so every penny raised through this partnership really will make a difference to those who are affected by cancer. We look forward to working with Belvoir and Go Green Day is a fantastic way to start!”

Sargent Community Fundraising Manager Claire James, Sequence Chief Executive David Plumtree said, “I am delighted Sequence has been able to raise further awareness and funds for such a worthy cause. Staff have lots of fun organising and taking part in fundraising events and we are delighted to continue supporting CLIC Sargent.” The money raised could pay for

the running costs and site fees of the charity’s holiday caravans for half a year. Claire James said, “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Sequence UK for their continued support. Without the generosity of local people CLIC Sargent could not support the 10 children and young people that every day are told that they have cancer. We are very grateful!”
