Franchise success with Bairstow Eves Countrywide
Bairstow Eves Countrywide is one of the leading names in the UK residential property sales and lettings market, with more than 250 branches operating across the country. Below are the stories of four of Bairstow Eves’ leading franchise owners, three of whom were already experienced estate agents, to discover the key to their success.
Craig Anderson launches in Hayes Bairstow Eves franchise owner Craig
Anderson is looking to the future with great confidence after seeing turnover at his Hayes, Middlesex business almost tripling in its first year of operation. Opening in 2009, Craig’s business immediately made an impact on the local property market, and he’s delighted with the progress made. Craig says, “We had a very successful first year with turnover exceeding £350,000. Not bad in a market half the normal size!” “That’s especially impressive given the recent general recession. We’re competing with about 20 other estate agents in this area and there’s no doubt that the Bairstow Eves’ brand contributed significantly to our success. The best thing about being a franchise owner is that it puts you in total control of your business.” Not satisfied with one successful branch Craig opened his second
franchise in Hillingdon in October of last year and has already acquired the franchise rights to a third location.
£1 million turnover target for Yorkshire duo In 2008 business partners and cousins Ian Preston and James Baker
launched their first Bairstow Eves estate and letting agency franchise in York. With the maiden branch successfully established, they expanded their business by opening a second office in Selby, south of York. In 2010 the offices passed their milestone target of £500K combined turnover. Ian and James are now focussed on their next major milestone – £1m turnover. “At the end of 2010 we acquired two further established
Bairstow Eves franchised branches in Leeds and also secured franchise licences to open a further three new branches, which we plan to open one at a time over the next three years. Whilst some have seen three years of a half sized market as a barrier to entry, we have seen it is as a prime opportunity to gain market share through offering excellent customer service.” says Ian. “Not only have I achieved my ambition of owning my own business, I have achieved a much better work/life balance since launching the business and I am able to spend more time with my wife and three young children as I no longer work late into the evenings or weekends,” Ian says.
Full Support from Bairstow Eves Franchising
Rachel Foster began looking for a franchised agency business because she knew that although she wanted to own her own estate agency and lettings business, she also wanted to be part of a large national estate agency brand. “After looking into various estate agent
franchises I chose Bairstow Eves because the brand name is recognised throughout the UK. Bairstow Eves Franchising came across as a very professional company and the support they offered was second to none.” Rachel launched her Huddersfield-based
Bairstow Eves business at the start of 2005. “From the start, I received fantastic support from the franchisor,” she reveals. “The head office team helped me with the whole process of launching my business.” For Rachel, one of the main benefits of owning a Bairstow Eves franchise is its ‘one-stop shop approach’ for people looking to buy, sell, let or rent. “The lettings aspect of the industry is growing from strength to strength
and this should really help my business grow and flourish further in the future.” Rachel comments.
East & West London growth for Sam Since launching his Bairstow Eves franchise in Stoke Newington, four years
ago, qualified lawyer Sam Sharif has been enjoying the substantial rewards of running his own Bairstow Eves franchised business. “The business has gone from a cold start to an annualised turnover in excess of £600,000 which has far exceeded my best expectations,” he says. Last year Sam expanded his business with a
second Bairstow Eves branch in West Hampstead, London. The support offered and recognition of the Bairstow Eves brand has been key benefits of owning a Bairstow Eves franchised business. “Despite the recent economic conditions, by using the Bairstow Eves brand and systems I have been able to drive my business forward and consistently take additional market share in both my markets,” he adds.
