Liz James, of Fitz-Gibbon, joined her husband Alan and 31 other cyclists on a charity bike ride from London to Paris. “I covered 234 miles in three days to raise almost £2,000 for the Stroke Association, the only UK wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages,” says Liz. “I cycled in a group alongside Alan and nine other men who were cycling

The tastiest auction ever

Each member of staff at The Home Partnership baked a cake that auctioneer Paul Bridgeman offered in a very tasty auction to local solicitors, surveyors, other agents, friends and family at their office in Duke Street, Chelmsford. The cake auction raised over £800

for Children in Need with a packed office of eager bidders – £565 was made from the sale of a total of 13 entries,

for various personal reasons as well as the challenge. Having cycled for two days solid, completing the final 105 miles to the Arc de Triomphe on day three was one of the most gruelling but rewarding things I have ever done,” she says. “Although I did a lot of training I should probably have done more.” Liz prepared for the event by cycling 15 miles to work at Fitz-Gibbon up to three times a week, and thirty miles a

day to Chertsey during the final month. “It was a great time and we saw

some wonderful places,” says Liz. “The final hour from Versailles through the Bois de Boulogne was particularly memorable as the adrenalin was flying and we were thrilled to raise money that the Stroke Association so desperately needs.” www.justgiving. com/liz-james-is-cycling-to-paris.

other monies came from the sale of tea and cup cakes, a dress down day where all staff made a nominal donation, a Pudsey baking game and a good old fashioned office swear jar – which of course didn’t raise that much!

Andrews fundraise to combat homelessness

Andrews is hoping to beat its Estate Agency Foundation fundraising achievements from last year, running

whole host of festive events across the South of England. “Last year, we raised over £8,000 to help combat the causes of homelessness – this year, I know that our teams can beat that figure” said Michael Robson, chief executive of Andrews and co-founder of the EAF. “All of the money that we raise at

these events will be given directly to the EAF’s chosen charities, ensuring that 100% of the donations will directly benefit good causes.”

event, which is now in its fourth year, as well as enjoying what was dubbed ‘Britain’s Biggest Fish and Chip Supper’. All funds raised go towards Magic Moments, the company’s own charity which supports the work of children’s hospices. Says Steve Lamb, Spicerhaart IT

Director and Chairman of Magic Moments, “It was wonderful to see people travelling from far afield to support the work of the charity.”
