Andrews’ new campaign

Andrews is launching a new campaign in conjunction with three of the UK’s leading charities that it had a hand in establishing. Oxfam, ActionAid and the EAF all benefitted from significant financial support and manpower from Andrews in their early days. ‘Choose us, help them – it’s a fair

trade’, encourages people to use Andrews services and in return the company will make a donation to charity towards one of three projects. “This campaign is a bit special to us because it helps tell a small part of the Andrews story. Not many agents can say they had a direct hand in founding some of the biggest charities in the UK, or that they have given over £5 million in donations over the last 15 years. We know a lot of people might be surprised and may not believe it – but it’s true. “We are very proud of the

continued success of Oxfam and ActionAid, and our staff and customers are very proud of the current work that Andrews is able to fund and support with the EAF and other valuable projects.” said Michael Robson, chief executive of Andrews.

David Lench, MD of the 111-office Arun Estates Group, is back at his desk in Faversham after raising £35,000 for charity with a successful ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania – at 5,895 metres/19,341 feet the highest mountain in Africa. The money raised by David, his wife Vivien and three friends who made the climb is being donated to Action Medical Research, the charity which funds research into children’s diseases and disabilities. Arun has a long history

dormant volcano, so climbing its sloping flanks is more of an extended hike than mountaineering-proper. Nevertheless, says David, it was the toughest challenge he has undertaken. “It takes 5 days to reach the top, climbing for 5 - 7 hours each day. Above around 4,000 metres, you start to move very slowly indeed, because the air is so thin. Fortunately, none of us suffered from altitude sickness, although one girl in the party did require oxygen.”
