news Law firm’s new home

South Wales’ solicitors, Everett Tomlin Lloyd & Pratt has purchased new office premises in Newport in deal secured by the Cardiff office of DTZ. ETLP have bought the freehold interest in 4,746 sq ft of space

at 19-20 Gold Tops, an imposing, detached period office building with generous car parking. DTZ acted on behalf of the landlord, the Home Office. The building was converted from a pair of Victorian, semi-

detached residential dwellings to provide office accommodation arranged over lower ground, ground and two upper floors. Alex Easton, of DTZ in Cardiff, said: “Gold Tops is an established

business location on the fringe of Newport city centre and remains popular among professional practices including solicitors, surveyors and accountants. It will no doubt be great base for ETLP to grow its business.” ETLP has been providing legal services to people and businesses in

south east Wales since the early 1800s. The firm employs about 40 staff in total across offices in Newport and Pontypool. Ashley Harkus, managing partner at ETLP, said: “We are

delighted with our new office. Having outgrown our last premises, we were searching for office space which could accommodate future expansion for the business and was, importantly, in a strong location for both our staff and clients.”

Expanding South Wales law firm Keith Evans & Company has signalled its plan to boost growth further in 2012 with the appointment of Jo Fisher to a new division. Jo has been recruited by the

Newport-headquartered firm to help drive forward its newly created commercial and corporate division. The firm also has offices in

Abergavenny, Cwmbran, Monmouth, Tredegar and most recently Chepstow. Jo, aged 32, has 11 years commercial

experience gained in South Wales with Eversheds and previously with RDP. Jo, appointed as an associate, said:

“I will be taking a key role within the new commercial and corporate side of the Keith Evans & Company business alongside Elliott Evans and Scott Bowen, managing partner and senior litigator respectively. “It’s a brilliant opportunity to further

develop and enhance the well-established Keith Evans brand. It has been a strategic move into the commercial market for the practice after some extensive expansion over the last two years which has seen the practice grow to now have six offices throughout south east Wales. The introduction of a commercial

arm was natural progression and a well received expansion for the business.” Elliott Evans, Managing Partner, said:

“We’re delighted to have been able to appoint Jo, with her wealth of experience in the commercial sector built up over more than a decade, to the practice. The aim of this expansion is to present new and established businesses with the offering of a straight forward corporate service, that they would normally expect to receive from one of the larger firms, from a local practice on a more approachable basis.” Keith Evans and Company,

established in 1990, now employs some 50 people across its six offices.
