accountants Help is on hand for A
s economically tumultuous as the last three years have been, they have served to underscore the critical role played by finance
professionals in nurturing, advising and in many cases leading Welsh organisations and supporting proper governance and accountability. In that role of leadership, the spotlight
really has been on the accountancy profession and more and more, we are seeing ambitious professionals in Wales step up to the plate to take up that task to benefit the long-term health of Welsh organisations across the sectors. ACCA Wales is working hard to support those individuals. So who are we? ACCA (the Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants) is the largest global body for professional accountants. We aim to offer business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management. Our aim is to develop capacity in the
profession and encourage the adoption of global standards. Our values are aligned to the needs of employers in all sectors and we ensure that, through our qualifications, we prepare accountants for business. Through the delivery of the
professional qualification and through the new Foundations in Accountancy suite of awards, ACCA is able to support the development of businesses and individuals at every level of the finance function. It’s ten years since ACCA opened an
office in Wales and inevitably, it has for us been a cause for celebration. The opening of that office was not only a response to ACCA’s impressive global growth but also a response to the changing landscape of Wales and a desire to better support our stakeholders and play a key role in business in Wales and the community landscape. In short, our aim has always been to place the profession at the heart of the Welsh economy.
This presence also allows us to play
a front -and-centre role in engaging with decision makers in business and government and ensuring that ACCA is able to bring global expertise to supporting the development of the Welsh economy. This economic development will be
impossible without the right skills base to support this activity. A focus on the development of the finance profession in Wales poses a distinct opportunity to gain a competitive edge within the UK economy. As the leading global accountancy body, it’s a challenge that we take very seriously in developing ACCA people for that task. ACCA Cymru Wales will be holding its
annual St David’s Day Business Breakfast with CMI Cymru on March 1, 2012 at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff at which the speaker will be respected entrepreneur Sir Chris Evans. To register your interest for this event,
