rural business In this changing and highly-competitive world, however, White
Hart still has an edge on its rivals. “Because we operate like a news crew we are quicker and
more cost-effective and our work has a more authentic ‘feel’. “We try to maximise the use of any footage we take so that
it can be used by clients for external promotion but also as a staff briefing, in presentations, on the web or for recruitment, induction and training.” John and Chris started White Hart in offices in Castle Arcade,
Cardiff. In the early 1990s the business and the Brooks family moved to a rural location in Devauden, just 10 minutes from the Severn Bridge and the motorway network to London and the Midlands. The company’s new purpose-built offices overlook a stunning
landscape which feeds the team’s creativity. “One of the hallmarks of White Hart is that we form enduring
relationships with our clients. We never miss deadlines and we are totally committed to every project however big or small. People tend to stay with us for years and many have become friends. I’m really proud of that. “For our part, we really enjoy the work: learning about
different industries and the new processes they are introducing.” John has also used his newspaper and broadcast background
to provide media training – an increasingly important ‘tool’ in 21st century business. “Everyone said companies like ours wouldn’t survive because
people would get their own cameras and do their own editing. But the fundamentals of story-telling have stayed the same. “We have to be totally flexible because the world is changing at
such a pace – but we’re finding that new opportunities are opening up for White Hart all the time.” “It’s interesting that in many ways the work
has gone full circle. We started working with Welsh Water producing ground-breaking internal communications and we currently have three clients who have adapted the approach we took then for a modern audience in order to reach their staff throughout the UK and Europe. “Recently, for example, we filmed in Rome for a
medical company which operates in 18 countries to produce a video case study in English and Italian. “I still find the work very interesting
and fulfilling. Our aim is to establish White Hart as a permanent and highly respected multi media company that will exist long after Chris and I have retired. “But I enjoy
it so much that I can’t even imagine wanting to retire!”
