“ You grow up during a time when it’s not

comfortable to be

who you are, and so you start to be funny so you can

protect yourself.

When can we expect to see it? Do you have about $500,000?

Ah, I see. We’re still finishing the script, so we’ll see. I may just

produce it myself. I don’t like talking to people…and my dad’s rich, so that’s helpful!

When you’re not making films or living life onstage, what can you be found doing to relax? I stay home, watch TiVo, I eat and I cry. (laughter). Honestly, I have a very boring life. I’m not a big party guy. My mom lives in Palm Springs and I’m going there next week. She thinks that when I go, there’s nothing else to do because it can’t be all about her. I’ll stay two days, then I’m ready to kill someone. Both my parents have the same disease: they cannot hang the phone up when you’re talking to them. “Mom…I gotta go!” … “Yeah, me too! And when that guy at the pharmacy was looking at my tits, I couldn’t believe it!” When I was a kid, all the women on the block would say, “Uh oh, watch out. Here comes Gloria. Hide your husband.”

If you weren’t in the entertainment industry, what could you see yourself doing? Martial arts. I’m kidding. Honestly, I’ve never thought

about doing anything else. That’s the problem. You remember that movie called Defending Your Life with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep? It’s the one where they watch their whole lives. If I ever saw my whole life, I would’ve thought, “Oh my god, that’s too hard! I’ll do something else. Maybe I’ll lie down.”

OCTOBER 2011 | RAGE monthly 47

Comedy you’ve mastered. Is there any other genre that you’re eager to take on? Well I’m actually working on a film now that I’m

writing with a friend. It’s about teen suicide and being bullied as a kid. It’s sort of an homage to Ordinary People and Todd McCarthy’s films.
