From the publisher Dear Readers,

Women’s History Month in October every year gives teachers a chance to change student’s perspectives so that they begin to appreciate women’s contributions to history, and as part of that history, women’s fight for equality as a powerful social movement.

October also celebrates National Business Women’s Week October 17- 21 2011 to honor the contributions of working women and employers who support working women and their families. Business and Professional Women’s Foundation celebrates National Business Women’s Week® (NBWW) during the third week of October.

National Business Women’s Week® provides an opportunity to call attention to women entrepreneurs, facilitate discussions on the needs of working women, share information about successful workplace policies, and raise awareness of the resources available for working women in their communities.

Metropolitan Business and Professional Women is hosting an event For NBWW on October 20, 2011. Look for the ad in this months issue or visit www.mbpw.org for more info. This event will have more than 100 women attending, so be sure to come out and network with us.

This month is also Breast Cancer Awareness month. Please join the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Charlotte. Together, we will unite with one purpose and one goal - to end breast cancer.
