NATIONAL ALL BREEDS SHOW THE SHOWMAN STUART J
ames Strachan of Rendham Holsteins and Rapid Bay-UK Jerseys in Suffolk took centre stage in the ring at this
year’s National All Breeds Show as the Showmanship judge. James is no stranger to the show ring and has had numerous successes as a showman, which instantly qualifi ed him for the task in hand.
The classes were supported by all breeds and it was another fi rst place for Hannah Bown of Richaven Holsteins in the Junior showmanship class, closely followed by Colm O’Neil. In the Intermediate line up, Hannah’s older brother Daniel scooped fi rst prize leading to further triumph for the Richaven team.
The classes really started to heat up in the Senior showman with twelve experienced handlers entering the ring. James put the young breeders through their paces and eventually placed Ffl ur Davies as the winner. The Mature showmanship class also showcased several highly experienced showmen and, after much deliberation, James announced Stuart Clapham as the winner.
The Championship crowned a fantastic day for Stuart Clapham, who was crowned Champion Showman closely followed by Ffl ur Davies in Reserve and Larissa Jones as Honourable Mention. James commended all the young breeders on their showmanship ability and took the time to speak to each of them, giving them hints on how to improve for future competitions.
