PLUMBING & HEATING
The A59 Club What has been happening at “The A59 Club?” The A59 Club (est 2007) is a Social Club for Single, Separated, Divorced and Widowed ladies and gentlemen over 40 that provides a quality social life. We meet at The Bonny Inn every Wednesday where we have a variety of activities This month has seen us doing Roller-ball bingo, Play Your Cards Right, Deal or No Deal, Ros’ Quiz,
ROOFING
Jokioke, Ice-Breakers and Jenny’s Photo Competition. Claire and Steve, the perfect hosts, always provide us with snacks or supper. We also had a three-course Saturday night dinner with delicious food. There has been another fight for the Championship in Ros’ Ten pin Bowling nights with Arthur regaining the title in July at our monthly event only to be knocked out in August by Tom. We had sunny walks and wet walks which all adds to the fun! They included Sunnyhurst wood nature trail looking at the animals and plants and the walk across Morecambe Bay when we raised money for Galloways for the blind.
The treasure hunt around PLUMBING & HEATING
Grassington took place in very hot weather. The winning team won by half a point with their fantastic caption. Next week we have an amble through Cuerden Valley and on Bank Holiday Monday a walk up to Malham Cove. Quiz Nights- we were overjoyed at coming 3rd in the Calf’s Head Quiz when we are usually about half way.
Alas we did UPHOLSTERY
less well at the Bonny Inn Quiz! Our “Luscious Lunches” friends have enjoyed lunches this month at Marco Pierre White’s restaurant, The Swan at Aughton, Heathcote’s in Clitheoe and Guys Eating Establishment on the A6 - all of which were very popular with superb food. We do not have as many theatre events in the summer but our special event was Katherine Jenkins at Lytham Proms. The rain stayed away from the open -air concert and we drank champagne and ate smoked salmon while listening to wonderful music. Our days out this month have included a day at Goosnargh and Longridge Show, Whalley Wine Shop to see the new wine preservation system and taste Tom’s delicious wines, a bus-pass day to Blackpool and a coach trip to Althorp House where the Spencer family live. A group of us went off to Bodelwyddn Castle for a week and are looking forward to the historic weekend at Littlecote House in September. A “Chick flick” and a meal at The Grand in Clitheroe and a Beetle afternoon at Arthur’s house completed our exciting month at the club. Keith achieved most points at the Beetle Drive but Val got the prize for the best looking beetle. Most of all we laugh! For all details relating to the club please
