Business Spotlight: Gray School of Music

The Gray School of Music was founded forty- three years ago by its owner, Vicki Gray. The School began in Richardson, Texas, with sixteen students in a home setting. As time passed, the student demand resulted in hiring of more teachers and a move to a commercial facility. The School is now located at Preston Road and Forest Lane, and serves the North Dallas community as an excellent school for all types of music instruction. At the Gray School of Music, parents enjoy the location as well as the expertise of the teachers. Pleasant waiting areas are located outside each studio with toys for younger children to enjoy and magazines for adults to read. Glass windows in studio doors afford parents visibility of their child’s lesson. The School has full time administrative staff, and email and calls are returned promptly. The Gray School of Music offers the finest in professional instruction, facilities, instruments, and state- of-art technology so that lessons result in a lifelong joy of music for students of all types from the basic beginner, leisure musician, or the serious student of music, ages 4-104. Private lessons are offered in percussion/drums, guitar, piano, voice, and violin. Group piano classes are held for ages 4-7. Lessons are scheduled at the client’s convenience, and are fun, profitable, and memorable. Each member of the faculty has a masters or doctorate degree in music, and is experienced in teaching children as well as adults. Teachers create a love of music within each student through carefully planned lessons that motivate students to practice and have fun with their music making.

Nine studios are equipped with Boston or Steinway grand pianos so that students can experience playing on superior quality instruments. Two class piano studios are each equipped with five digital pianos. Seven guitar,

drum, and voice studios contain large mirrors for teaching as well as amplifiers, digital pianos, and equipment necessary for vocal, percussion, string, and guitar instruction. The School has an in-house recital hall, and performance classes, master classes, and recitals are often scheduled by individual teachers.

Over the past forty-three years, the business has grown to meet the needs of musical instruction in the community. Lessons are still taught the old fashioned way with creativity in a warm, caring environment. Because the School has been in business for so long, many traditions of beautiful recitals, fun festivals, and performances have been incorporated into the teaching of students. We strive to be in business for forty more years, serving the musical needs of the North Dallas area.
