What were you doing before you embarked on this entrepreneurial journey & describe where and when you got the idea for your business?
I was working as admin support after deciding that university wasn’t for. It was around Christmas time and I was visiting a craft fair. I was like a magpie – drawn to anything sparkly and it suddenly hit me then and there (with absolutely no skills or experience) that I was going to be a professional jeweller!
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs looking to starting a business? Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves – this is so true. Basically to be really cautious with what you spend your money no and only layout what you know you need to in order to make money back.
What would describe as your biggest achievement so far? Moving the jewellery school from a small workshop in Dulwich, South London to our lovely studios in Hatton Garden, London’s famous Jewellery Quarter. Moving wasn’t easy and was a big risk as our rent more than tripled over night but the new studios are much better suited to our needs and allow us to run 2 workshops at a time.

What do you like the most about being an entrepreneur? The freedom to make as much money as possible, The freedom to work the way I like to work and the freedom to work with people with whom I enjoy working with are few of things which I like about being an entrepreneur.
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs looking to starting a business? Don’t lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. From my experience, one advice to entrepreneurs would be to always have one eye on revenue and one eye on passion. Taking eyes off revenue and focusing entirely on passion is not a good strategy.
