As CEO of BT Global Services Francois expanded the organisations relationship with Dame Ellen
MacArthur through it’s ‘a better world’ campaign.
The past year has been a frenzy of activity for Francois Barrault. Seven new investments across the technology, energy and publishing sectors in addition to his multiple board and advisory positions with the likes of eServGlobal, Windeo, Alpha Networks, La Baule Privilege, NovaSparks, IJ Partners , Tactem, Mastek, ACE Fund, The New York Forum, Recipco, HIG Capital, Advent International, Wisekey, JoltTech, Studio Moderna have kept Barrault busy. Firmly established as one of Europe’s most successful and respected technology entrepreneurs and investors, Francois views this latest phase of his career as that of an ‘enabler’. “At this stage of my career I am looking for the next idea. The next project. I am looking for a business where I can add value to the proposition and how I can build their ecosystem. Right now I am a success enabler. I am an enabler by skills, by money, by networking.”
The hallmark of Barraults’ success has been his quest to redefine value propositions in everything he does. His entrepreneurial journey is far removed from the career in high public office that was expected of him when growing up in one of France’s elite intellectual families.
He remembers his early school days fondly and the important role that family played in his education and upbringing. Barrault considers himself a fighter, determined to be number one but also fiercely loyal. It could be argued this is a result of the French education system which he believes is more punishing compared to the US system which is more enabling or
