Neighbourhood Watch is a partnership where people come together t o m a k e t h e i r communities safer.

It involves the Police,

Community Safety departments of local authorities, other voluntary organisations and, above all, individuals and families who want to make their neighbourhoods better places to live. It aims to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by means of improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents to the police and by fostering a community spirit.

Objectives of Neighbourhood Watch • To prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance, creating and maintaining a caring community and reducing opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness. • To assist the police in detecting crime by promoting effective communication and the prompt reporting of suspicious and criminal activity either to your local scheme Co-ordinator, Neighbourhood policing team or directly to the police operators. • To reduce undue fear of crime by providing accurate information about risks and by promoting a sense of security and community spirit, particularly amongst the more vulnerable members of the community like the elderly. If anyone wishes to discuss their role within a Neighbourhood watch scheme further or if you require any crime prevention advice then please do not hesitate to contact your local Neighbourhood policing team or myself. Carol Hendey Crime Prevention Officer: 01254 353576.

Follow your dreams. Except the one where you are naked in church.

Harold & Ethel. Ethel: That new neighbour at number 22 was out mowing his back lawn again this morning, absolutely stark naked. Harold:

But you can’t see into his back garden because of that huge fence. Ethel:

You can if you stand on the bedside chest and hold on to the top of the wardrobe.
